F1 | Honda specifies: “Toro Rosso and Red Bull will receive the same power unit specification”

According to Masashi Yamamoto, Toro Rosso will not lose any attention after the recent arrival of Red Bull within the Honda family. In an interview given to the columns of Autosport, in fact, the current General Director of the Japanese motor manufacturer underlined how Toro Rosso will continue to play a key role in Sakura's commitment to Formula One and will be an integral part in the development of future activities in Circus. Furthermore, it should not be underestimated that Honda will have the possibility of fielding four single-seaters on the track from 2019, thus increasing the data input. This will almost certainly speed up development on the power unit front.

Here are the words of Masashi Yamamoto: “We will supply the same power unit specification to all our customers and there will be no disparity in treatment between Toro Rosso and Red Bull. In fact, from the manufacturer's point of view, it makes no sense to identify a reference team given that current regulations oblige us to supply the same power unit to all our teams. There will be three parties on an equal footing and the treatment we reserve for Toro Rosso will not change one iota."

“We did not disclose all the details of the agreement in the press release, but I can admit that the contract is beneficial for both parties”, he added. “Red Bull is one of the best teams and this gives the team additional motivation. We feel the responsibility, but we are ready for a commitment of this type."
