F1 | Honda and Red Bull: meeting during the week
"We need to share feelings about why we are unable to compete with Mercedes"
Honda and Red Bull are scheduled to meet this week to discuss the disappointing start to the season. In recent statements, the Austrian team had said they were confident that Max Verstappen could be the favorite for the 2020 world championship. However, after three races held it is clear that there is only one dominating team, Mercedes. Red Bull admitted that there are aerodynamic problems but the analysis of the data also revealed a significant decline in the Honda engine.
“It is necessary for both Honda and Red Bull to share their feelings on why we are currently unable to compete with Mercedes”, said the head of Honda, Masashi Yamamoto, interviewed by as-web.jp.
“Therefore, we decided to hold a meeting with the leaders before Silverstone. This is not an urgent meeting, we have already spoken a few times during the three races, but now we will do it properly. I would like to talk about the RB16, of the evolution of Honda propulsion and how we can continue to fight in the future. If we talk about technique there will certainly be Adrian Newey and perhaps the technical director, Pierre Wache. The meeting will be held at the Milton-Keynes factory, between 29 and 30 July”.
