F1 | Hamilton: “Verstappen? He can be one of the candidates for the title”
On McLaren: "I hope it can overcome the period of crisis into which it fell, returning to being competitive"
Lewis Hamilton has no doubts. The Englishman from Mercedes, who at the end of the 2017 championship became world champion for the fourth time in his career, is certain that Max Verstappen could be one of the opponents for the world championship crown in the future.
"It can be one of the candidates for the title – said Hamilton in an interview with Sky Sports UK - We all admired his skills while driving a large single-seater".
With the new partnership between McLaren and Renault, the Englishman from the Star is confident of a return to the top of the Woking team, with which he won his first title in 2008: “I hope that McLaren can overcome the period of crisis into which it has fallen, returning to being competitive and proving that it is a great team".
A possible return of McLaren to the top of the standings could mean a wider fight in the World Championship. In this regard, regarding the candidates for the World Championship, Hamilton added: “The ones that come to mind now are yours truly, Sebastian (Vettel) e Fernando (Alonso)”.
