F1 | Hamilton: “A magical lap, I don't know where it came from”

Seventh pole of the season, the 79th of his career, for Lewis Hamilton, which a Singapore wins the start at the pole thanks to the stratospheric time of 1:36.015. A time that amazed Lewis himself, who until then had been behind the Ferrari. On a not particularly pro track Mercedes, once again the four-time world champion has shown his ace, and tomorrow in the race he will be able to start in front of Verstappen e Hag. Here are his words at the end of qualifying and in the press conference.

“A magical ride, I don't know where it came from. A huge thank you to the team for this car. One of the best rides I can remember."

“This track is epic: it's very difficult, probably the most challenging circuit of the whole season for us. Today everything went well, in the morning we made some changes, starting with the softs and then, before qualifying, I was a bit nervous: we didn't think we had the pace and would be able to cover that half second we were missing compared to the Ferraris. The session was truly a challenge. We tackled Q1 with the ultrasofts and in Q3 it was all about putting together the previous details. 99% of the time you don't succeed, but this time on that lap I felt the car perfectly under me and I was able to make the most of every single corner. On the second lap I tried to do even better but I exaggerated, the car couldn't hold anymore."

“We knew that both the Red Bulls and the Ferraris would be difficult to beat, so it's an incredible moment for us, to be on pole here, considering all the circumstances.”
