F1 | Hamilton: "There's not only F1 in life, I will choose the right time to retire"
The Mercedes driver confides: "I wouldn't mind building a company; I envy others the routine and the possibility of being with family"
Delicate Confessions of Lewis Hamilton. In an interview granted to Motorsport, the four-time English world champion commented with great clarity on the various rumors in recent days regarding his possible goodbye to Formula 1 :“I would like to continue, but I'm at that point in my career where you wonder when you'll stop” – admitted the Mercedes driver. “And you know that if you say goodbye you will never be able to return to F1. Some say we need to stay as long as we can, but I don't think so. There is also more to life".
Hamilton then went into detail: “I was talking about this the other day with one of my best friends, to whom I envy the routine and the chance to be with family. I will have time to do all this after I turn 40, but there is an episode that made me think. The last words of my aunt, who died of cancer. 'I've worked all my life thinking I'd stop one day and enjoy everything else. But now I don't have time anymore.' Now I have this doubt in my head. I have to choose the right time to retire, but I'm sure I'll be able to do it".
Looking post-Formula 1, a future in the business sector would excite the Englishman: “I discovered that I have many other qualities and I wouldn't mind starting from scratch in a company, perhaps, to build another career. I would also be ready to do an internship, I would like it. Also because I shouldn't worry about my financial stability".
