F1 | Haas, Romain Grosjean enters Q2: “Worried about the race, but how nice it is to drive here at Mugello!”

Romain Grosjean lands in Q2 for the third time this season: the French driver earned the fourteenth time in the first qualifying heat at Mugello, but will start tomorrow from fifteenth position. Disaster, however, for Kevin Magnussen, twentieth and therefore last on the grid. The Dane, despite the good sensations in the cockpit, was unable to set a good lap, and the presence of a Williams in the gravel at Turn 7 did not contribute to the feat.

"I am very surprised at my position – Kevin admitted at the end of qualifying – it wasn't bad, the car improved over the weekend. On the last lap, I thought everything was going well. I had one of the Williams in the gravel in turn seven, there was gravel and smoke everywhere, I had to lift my foot a little, and that cost me a tenth or so. And that means I'm last, and the track here is so narrow. I was a bit unlucky, but honestly my sensations in the car were better. It's hard to have expectations for tomorrow's race, after today's surprise, we expected to be more competitive. As always, we will do everything we can to try to recover during the race".

Not a great result, however, for Grosjean in terms of performance, but the Frenchman manages to get into Q2. There are many worries about the race, but the enthusiasm of driving on such a fast circuit as Mugello remains great.

“Q2, as I said at Silverstone, is our medium-long term objective for qualifying. So today is a good day. The attempts in Q2 were not so good. I had no slipstream on the first lap, and it cost us a lot. The weather was good, but we lacked speed on the straight. On the second attempt, I think I caught a big gust of wind and completely lost the rear. I was already 4 tenths behind, so it was game over from the first corner. I can't say how the race will go. To be honest, I haven't tried the race simulation due to the problems with my car, but I'm sure we will have some problems with the tyres. We will see, at least for us, how much we will have to worry about overheating. I'm a little worried, but I hope I'm wrong. But what a circuit this is! From turns six to ten, it's full throttle, great!"
