F1 | Haas, Romain Grosjean: “Happy with the car, but we had no fighting chance”

Another day to forget for the American team, who failed to collect even a single point in front of their home crowd.

Romain Grosjean managed, at least, to maintain his starting position, fifteenth, with a one-stop strategy.

"It was complicated on the track, we know that, it's like that at every race. Unfortunately we had absolutely no top speed, so at the start I couldn't overtake any of the guys – commented the French pilot – Plan A was to start on the Mediums and move to the Softs, so we tried to lengthen the first stint. Unfortunately, the tires died when everyone had already pitted, they were overtaking me, I lost a lot of lap time there. Then we put the Hards on and they were actually quite good. I was happy with the balance and my lap times. We were too far behind, with no chance to fight".

Disappointing Sunday, however, for Kevin Magnussen: starting twelfth, the Dane retired

"I had a brake problem at the end. It was a tough day. We weren't fast enough, we lacked grip and pace. We have problems, that's pretty clear, but I still tried to do my best. I got up to ninth in those first few laps, which was a lot of fun, but it was clear we didn't have the pace and we started to lose places. The race therefore ended with brake failure".
