F1 | Haas, Mazepin after Friday's free practice: "I had fun"

The two Haas finished in eighteenth and nineteenth position after free practice for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Mazepin and Schumacher got behind Latifi, who was out of action almost immediately in the second session. The German was unable to complete a lap on the soft tyres, probably due to the many yellow flags, and for this reason he took around half a second from his teammate, who, after brilliantly overcoming the arduous challenge of the pit walls Monaco, crashed, non-violently, into the barriers this morning.

“I had fun today – Mazepin said. We are at a good point: we have made important steps forward, despite the car not performing well on high and low aerodynamic downforce tracks, but today's results are encouraging. There's a lot to do, but today everything went according to plan. The track has very low grip and the asphalt makes the tires overheat, I have to get used to it. The long runs were our strong points, but I don't think we'll be able to make much progress between now and Sunday, but as we know, anything can happen between qualifying and the race."

“The track was quite dirty this morning, it wasn't completely cleaned up during the first session – Schumacher said. With Formula 2 on the track there has been a bit of cleaning. Unfortunately we didn't do everything we wanted: I had some problems but I still have to do a fast lap on the softs and one or two laps with a high fuel load. In general, there is a lot to learn, we need to put all the pieces of the puzzle together to do the best in FP3 and qualifying."
