F1 | Haas, Magnussen: “I see no reason why we should suddenly collapse”

Continuing on the path traced in these first GPs of 2018 and dreaming of fourth place in the constructors' championship: the plans of the Haas they are clear and ambitious. After surprising competitors and enthusiasts, Kevin Magnussen does not fear a drop in performance of the VF-18: “It's hard to predict the future, but I see no reason why we should collapse suddenly massively. Sometimes there are these surprises, so I hope it doesn't happen. I think last year we learned about the tires and this year we have a more consistent car, even if we are not perfect yet. So we will still have to look at things to improve".

One of the most significant problems that plagued the American team in 2017 concerned the use of tires: specifically, the difficulties in bringing them into the correct operating window. In this respect, Magnussen believes Haas has made notable progress: “I think this car is consistent. That was our weakness last year: we had a car with which sometimes we could get into the correct window, in those cases it worked really well. This year things seem a little simpler already at the beginning of the weekend: even when we are not at our best with the tyres, we manage to stay at the top. I feel like we have a better starting point than last year, but we still have to improve.".
