F1 | Haas, Magnussen: “We fail to highlight the problem”

The Haas driver was present at the press conference of the Austrian Grand Prix and spoke about the difficulties that the American team has been experiencing since the start of the season:

“France was very disappointing because we had very high expectations for this season. In the winter tests the car had given good sensations and seemed very competitive. Even for several races we did very well in qualifying, managing to be better than the middle of the grid but then in the race we struggled a lot. I don't know if it was Haas' worst race, because we struggled in Mexico too. The sensations were terrible, we went from sixth place in qualifying in Monte Carlo and suddenly you struggle to get through Q1 and it's difficult in the race."

There is a lot of insecurity in the team at the moment:

“We often find ourselves with a car that doesn't work well and we can't highlight the problem. We talk a lot about tires but we can't understand why sometimes we are strong and on other tracks that seem the same, we struggle. There is confusion but we are working hard to find a solution to look into the issues.”

Last year Haas did very well here with fourth and fifth place:

“The sensations are positive, on this track we have confidence because something suits the design of the car. It's exciting to come here knowing that we've had some positive races in past years."
