F1 | Haas, Magnussen: “So far everything is going well”
Grosjean: "We can have a good qualifying"
Despite a hitch in the first free practice session for Haas, forced to call the drivers back to the pits due to a telemetry problem, the American team managed to make progress. Kevin Magnussen finished in seventh place while Romain Grosjean in eleventh.
Kevin Magnussen: “We lost a few runs in FP1 due to a telemetry issue, but I got back to work, and did our whole low-fuel program. This allowed me to have a good feeling with the car. We lost a few more laps with a full tank of fuel, but we made it up in the afternoon, so it wasn't a bad Thursday. We tried all the tire compounds so that's positive. The car works well on low fuel, so we will see what we can do about tire management. It's a track where it's difficult to overtake, it's not the main priority, but obviously we want to be fast in the race. So far everything is going well, and I hope Q3 gives us a chance.".
Romain Grosjean: "Has it been a good day. We didn't really know what to expect coming here considering last year didn't go so well. I'm quite happy with the way the machine worked. We probably didn't choose the right set-up for FP2, but we tried something interesting. Now we can analyze all the data for Saturday. I think we should be in the middle for a good qualifying."
