F1 | Haas, Kevin Magnussen: “We couldn't hope for more”

"Both cars are in the points, that's fine" said the Dane, tenth at the finish line

F1 | Haas, Kevin Magnussen: “We couldn't hope for more”

He was always a step behind his teammate in the Silverstone race, yet Kevin Magnussen still managed to take home a point. The Danish driver unfortunately suffered in the first stint, where he lost several positions on the medium tyres, so much so that Mick Schumacher managed to take over the position from his teammate. At the pit stop he is still on the mediums – the compound had already been cleared with the red flag, the Dane had started on hard, ed. – and at the Safety Car he decides not to risk it and stay out: in the end he is tenth, both Haas cars are among the top ten.

"I don't think we could have hoped for anything better. I think that in the first stint we didn't have much pace, at least compared to the second where the pace clearly improved. I lost a few positions at the start, which was annoying, especially because there was the Safety Car at the end – Kevin said – the wall suggested we make a double pit stop and both come back in, both me and Mick, but I decided to stay out, without knowing whether my decision would pay off or not, but if a mistake were revealed it would still be the fault my. We still have both cars in the points, we should be super happy, we still have a good haul of points already at this point in the season, that's fine. We leave Silverstone with a beautiful smile and a lot of motivation for the next races".
