Steiner: "Ferrari asked us to have him on the team but we already have our drivers"
Since July, the Italian driver has taken part in the first free practice session in seven grands prix but according to the boss of the American team, Gunther steiner, it was of no use. “I can't say how bad it was -continued Steiner- but it definitely wasn't good. We'll see what to do next year, but at the moment we haven't talked about it yet.".
Antonio Giovinazzi has been dropped by Sauber for 2018 and despite various attempts by the Ferrari to place their junior driver in the American team, the response was negative:
“They asked us, they didn't put pressure on us. We immediately made it clear that we already have two drivers for 2018.".
The driver from Martina Franca will take part in six free practices with Sauber next year.
“We understand his desire to compete -he has declared Sergio Marchionne- but at the moment there are no places".
