F1 | Haas, Grosjean: “We hope to get at least one car into Q2”

Another not particularly brilliant day for Haas: on the Silverstone circuit the two VF-20s were unable to go beyond fourteenth position in the morning (Vettel was unable, however, to set a time). The two drivers of the American team were unable to set a fast lap during FP2, due to Alex Albon's crash which caused a red flag for ten minutes. Upon returning to the track, the two then focused on simulating the race pace.

Romain Grosjean managed to place his Haas in fifteenth position during the first session and in sixteenth during the afternoon.

"The car performed well today. We made some changes to the car set-up in the afternoon, I felt comfortable, which is great. The challenge for this weekend will be represented by the temperatures: if they drop, we will have to base ourselves on today's data and try to understand how to behave on Sunday – said the French pilot – the balance of the car was good, we are getting the best out of the car, but the ranking is clear, we are sixteenth and nineteenth, and that's not good. We would like to be higher in the table, but we have to do the best with what we have. We hope to bring at least one car to Q2, the goal is to bring both to the next GPs. For the race we hope to be able to manage the tires better than the others".

Similar results also for Kevin Magnussen, fourteenth in FP1, but nineteenth in the afternoon.

"It was too hot today, and this complicated things, especially with the tyres. On this track, with the fast corners, when it's too hot it's really easy to take the tires above the ideal temperature. It was still an interesting day, as it will be to see if, with the lower temperatures, things will improve for us: another opportunity to learn more about the VF-20. It doesn't seem like our pace is that fast, we expected it, and we will try to work with the means at our disposal. I think there is still something we can recover, but we'll see tomorrow” said Magnussen.
