F1 | Haas, Grosjean: “We're not happy with our positions, we need to make the tires work better”

Not very encouraging Friday for the Haas in Monte Carlo. Self Romain Grosjean in FP2 he was unable to replicate his 9th place in the morning, sinking to 18th place, Kevin Magnussen he classified only 16th after a morning compromised by a problem with the fuel system, due to which he completed a paltry 7 laps. In the first session Grosjean also had a small setback: following contact with the wall in turn 12, the mechanics had to fit a new floor on his VF-18.

ROMAIN GROSJEAN
FP1: 9th, 1:13.943 (+1.817) – 24 laps
FP2: 18th, 1:13.763 (+1:922) – 37 laps
“We weren't able to find the main problem on the car and we didn't find the grip we wanted to have here. Obviously, we are not very happy with our positions. Hopefully the tires will work better and we will find ways to maximize grip: by doing so, performance should improve. At the moment, it looks like we wouldn't get to Q3, but it's about finding more grip. I'm sure the engineers will work very hard to get the tires into the right temperature window. If we do this, given that the car has been really good everywhere, I don't see why we shouldn't be competitive.".

KEVIN MAGNUSSEN
FP1: 20th, 1:18.801 (+6.675) – 7 laps
FP2: 16th, 1:13.572 (+1.731) – 41 laps
“Obviously, we are not where we wanted to be both in terms of pace and in terms of number of laps in FP1. I hope for a better Saturday. We have a lot of time to work on the car with Friday off - we can focus a lot more on the setup. I hope we can improve the situation for qualifying. The whole middle of the pack is very close, so, even if the position seems negative, we don't have to find much performance to improve our position.".
