F1 | Haas confirms Brembo brakes for the Spanish Grand Prix

Despite the latest tests carried out in Russia with Carbone Industrie material, Haas will confirm its partnership with Brembo in the next Spanish Grand Prix, the fifth round of the 2017 Formula One World Championship. The American Scuderia has chosen to continue working with Brembo brakes despite the enormous difficulties it is facing on the braking front. For two years, in fact, Romain Grosjean has continued to complain about serious problems of overheating of the discs and the test carried out in Sochi with the Carbone Industrie material did not have the desired effects. Both riders suffered from excessive overheating of the braking system, a factor which pushed the Frenchman to return to the Brembo plant between Friday and Saturday. A different story however for the Dane given that with the Carbon brakes he has significantly improved his feeling with the pinch. The objective will now be to work in the tunnel and on the track to resolve these disc overheating problems.

Here are the words of Gunther Steiner, Haas team principal: “The material tested in Sochi satisfied us quite well, but we continue to have problems with the discs overheating and for this reason we will face the Grand Prix in Spain with Brembo material. We will work in the tunnel to resolve these technical difficulties and then make a final decision. Unfortunately, brakes are a delicate part of driving and it is not easy to solve a problem of this type."

“Grosjean chose to return to Brembo brakes because he didn't find the right feeling during free practice on Friday. Kevin, on the other hand, was remarkably satisfied with the Carbon material, so much so that he also confirmed it in the race. However, we are working hard and look forward to crossing this issue off our to-do list." he concluded.
