F1 | Grosjean: “Even if I braked, nothing changed”
The Frenchman was given a three-place grid penalty as well as two points on his licence
Regarding the accident after departure, the pilot of the Haas he admitted that he could not have avoided contact with anyway Nico Hulkenberg e Pierre Gasly.
Romain Grosjean received a three-place grid penalty to be served Monaco, plus two points on the license. But the French driver justified himself, declaring that accelerating rather than braking in response to the spin was an instinctive reaction, furthermore this would not have prevented him from making contact.
“I lost the rear, I tried to reposition myself but it didn't work. If I had braked the car would have turned anyway so I kept pressing the accelerator, trying to hit as few drivers as possible. It didn't work and I don't think there was anything different that could be done. Rosberg did the same thing with Vettel in 2016 in Malaysia and Schumacher in Abu Dhabi in 2010. If I had braked I would have stayed in the middle of the track".
