Austin, a mix of curves with the unknown weather

The United States and Mexican Grands Prix constitute the last "back to back" (two consecutive races) of a very long season. A demanding trip not only for logistics, but also for the time difference (7 hours) which staggers the working times between the track and the headquarters, complete with "remote garage". For many teams, Austin also represents the final stage of performance development over the course of the season, although subsequent races will still see adaptations to the type of circuit.

The avant-garde of Scuderia Ferrari left already on Thursday 11th, the last flight for the team will arrive in Texas on Wednesday afternoon. The circuit is located in the open prairie, in an originally marshy area about thirty kilometers south of the city of Austin, which is the capital of the "Lone Star" state.

The route has been on the calendar for seven years; it presents a variety of corners that make it a sort of "cocktail" of other historic tracks: a little Silverstone, a little Suzuka, a little Austria and Turkey. The most characteristic point is undoubtedly the first bend, at the top of a steep climb on an artificial slope.

The big unknown this year is the weather: it won't be cold, but throughout the weekend we will have alternating sun and clouds, with possible showers of rain. Nothing to do with the deluge of 2015, but hopefully the threat of rainfall will not keep the public away, who are an integral part of the show here, not to mention the many VIPs who come to walk the catwalk in the paddock...
