F1 | Hungarian GP 2002, Ferrari arithmetically conquers the Constructors' Championship

On 18 August 2002, Ferrari won the twelfth Constructors' World Championship in its history, winning the Hungarian GP with Rubens Barrichello. The Brazilian finishes ahead of teammate Michael Schumacher, dominator of a Drivers' World Championship won race after race.

For Barrichello and Ferrari it is an important day: the Brazilian consolidates himself as a driver worthy of the Ferrari, a fundamental part of a Constructors' Title which mathematically arrives in that race, after the pole on Saturday. Ferrari instead asserts itself as the dominator of Formula 1, with the fourth Constructors' win in a row, a streak that will reach six with the victories in 2003 and 2004.

In Budapest the weekend is one-way, as often happens in that season. The Hungaroring sees red throughout the weekend, from Friday's free practice to Saturday's qualifying. Sunday's race is an apotheosis for the Maranello team, which celebrates the victory arriving mathematically ahead of rivals Williams-BMW and McLaren-Mercedes.

The season finale will be a sweet continuation, with victories for Barrichello in Italy and the United States and for Schumacher in Belgium and Japan.
