F1 GP Spain, Free Practice 2: Rosberg's push, Raikkonen holds on for second

Same tire - the soft one for the qualifying simulation - but different times in the Free Practice 2 of the Spanish Grand Prix, with Nico Rosberg who forcefully returns to the top in 1:23.922, a time almost three seconds lower than the one set in FP2 in 2015 here at Barcelona. However, it holds on in second place Ferrari di Kimi Raikkonen, two tenths behind Nico and ahead of the Mercedes di Hamilton.
Hag he ended the first day fourth, followed by Sainz, Ricciardo, Alonso, Verstappen, Perez and Hulkenberg, with the Mexican gaining the points after the problems he encountered in the morning.
The rain did not compromise the teams' work on this first day, with a red flag at the start of the session due to the sudden blowout of a tire on the Renault di Palmer (on which the Pirelli is investigating) and a complexion Romain Grosjean who complained excessively about his Haas, still finishing in 13th place.

News – The second session is inaugurated by Haryanto, Grosjean and Nasr, who immediately leave the pits when the green lights up. The track fills up quickly and the first time is not long in coming, with Grosjean setting a time of 1:28.595 on the hard compound. Meanwhile, Palmer is back behind the wheel of his Renault, after Esteban Ocon had driven it in the morning.
Raikkonen immediately stole the place from Haas, with medium tires and a time of 1:26.525. Behind him are Bottas, Sainz and Kvyat. Then it was Vettel's turn to lead the way in 1:26.306, again with the medium compound.
VCS and red flag immediately afterwards due to Palmer's Renault, victim of a sudden puncture on the straight. With frozen positions Vettel is ahead of Raikkonen, Bottas, Sainz, Kvyat, Hulkenberg, Magnussen, Gutierrez, Wehrlein and Grosjean. Mix medium for everyone except Sainz, Magnussen, Grosjean and Nasr on hard.

At the restart Hamilton took the lead in 1:25.607 and used medium tyres. Raikkonen switched to the softs and took first place in 1:24.176, ahead of Sainz, still on the softs but new. Button pushes back to the pits due to an engine problem while Bottas moves up to fourth place. After the first thirty minutes Raikkonen is in the lead followed by Sainz, Hamilton, Bottas, Grosjean, Verstappen, Rosberg, Alonso, Vettel and Ricciardo. The first two are on softs, as are Bottas and Grosjean, while the rest of the grid is still on mediums.
Magnussen eighth on the soft climbs, Ricciardo third. Vettel returns to the track on soft and finishes eight tenths behind Kimi at the top. But it was Nico Rosberg who silenced everyone in 1:23.922.

Raikkonen was called back to the pits for a suspected fuel problem while on the track Alonso rose to sixth place. Hamilton is the last in the top ten to mount the soft tires and takes home the third fastest time, behind Rosberg and Kimi. Vettel, Sainz, Ricciardo, Alonso, Verstappen, Perez and Hulkenberg follow.

The drivers then begin to run in race simulation setup. The bottom of Alonso's McLaren has been replaced, while Palmer manages to get back on track 15 minutes from the end, when Raikkonen informs via radio that there is light rain in the turn 4 area. Grosjean meanwhile continues to complain about how much his Haas is undriveable today. In the final stages of the session, Rosberg and Vettel ran on the soft tyres, while Raikkonen and Hamilton ran on the medium tyres.

The checkered flag marks the end of this first day, with Nico Rosberg setting the best time ahead of Raikkonen and Hamilton.
