F1 | Spanish GP, Alonso in Barcelona for the "turning point" of the season

Having archived a first part of the season full of ups and downs, Fernando Alonso is ready to aim for the top positions in the standings in the next Spanish Grand Prix, the sixth round of the 2022 Formula 1 world championship. Taking advantage of the warmth of the home crowd, the Iberico wants to bring its A522 into the top five, so as to give itself and the team important points for the constructors' classification, where, currently, the French team is fighting with McLaren for fourth place behind Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes.

“I have raced in Barcelona for many years and I know both the track and the place well,” said the two-time World Champion. “The characteristics of the track really show your level within the grid and for this reason it has been the site of winter testing for several years. It's not easy to overtake, so qualifying will play a fundamental role. To recover, a Safety Car and an unconventional race are needed. This year we have always qualified well and therefore we hope to be able to confirm this form here too."
