F1 | GP Singapore Free Practice 2: Hamilton closes in command

The second free practice session on the Marina Bay Circuit has just ended. The fastest of all was Lewis Hamilton, who set the best time in 1:38.773. The Englishman from Mercedes precedes Max Verstappen's Red Bull and Sebastian Vettel's Ferrari.

Followed by: Bottas, Albon, Leclerc, Sainz, Hulkenberg, Norris and Gasly.

Lewis Hamilton showed an incredible pace in the race pace simulations which leaves little doubt as to who will be the favorite for the weekend. Good performance for Alex Albon in his third race with Red Bull, as well as for McLaren, both in the top 10.

Let's review what happened on the track in our recap!

News – The second free practice session begins and the spotlights come on on the Marina Bay Circuit with 29 degrees in the air and 34 on the asphalt. Raikkonen immediately took the lead with 1:43.996, followed by his teammate, Antonio Giovinazzi, still with high times. Albon sets the pace but is beaten by Russell in 1:43.229. Magnussen goes ahead of everyone but Perez does better in 1:41.406.

Hamilton in the lead with 1:40.685, Vettel climbs to third position. Good step forward for Sainz who occupies fourth place with his Renault. Bottas climbs to third and Ricciardo improves to seventh.
Hamilton increases with 1:40.405. Albon had a small accident against the barriers at turn 10 but he managed to get back on the track and had to return to the pits to fix the front wing.

Hamilton lowers his time again to 1:39.991. Russell's turn, sixth, was truly surprising! Giovinazzi takes the English position for Williams, Albon in command with 1:39.943.
Verstappen does better than him, leading with 1:38.957. Hamilton returns to the lead with 1:38.773. Ferrari still far away, over a second behind the Englishman's Mercedes.
The drivers begin their race pace simulation and Hamilton has incredible pace. Eight tenths to Vettel and 1,2 seconds to Leclerc.

And so we arrive at the checkered flag.
