F1 | Russian GP, from the 2015 accident to the start: Carlos Sainz at the Sky Pad [VIDEO]

For Carlos Sainz, the Russian Grand Prix evokes perhaps the worst memory since he has been in Formula 1. In 2015 during FP3, the Spaniard at the time riding the Toro Rosso crashed violently into the barriers at Turn 15, ending up in hospital for checks. A very bad accident at high speed, which fortunately did not cause any consequences to the son of the world rally champion.

“I remember it perfectly – Sainz said to Sky's microphones. I was on the straight and doing a long run: I did an experimental test on a braking map, you can't see it in the video but I move a lever, I go further back with the braking balance and this leads me into oversteer, I touch the wall and I lose all brakes. The worst moment for a driver is when you are going over 200 km per hour and there is nothing you can do to avoid the wall. It took them 10-15 minutes to get me out of the protection, I was fine, but I couldn't communicate with the garage. I was worried about my mum and dad, because they might think I had really hurt myself."

After recounting this experience, Sainz shows the key points for the start in Sochi on the Sky Pad with Davide Valsecchi.
