We bring you Valtteri Bottas' pole position lap in qualifying for the Portuguese Grand Prix, the third round of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship. At the end of a session fought on the edge of thousandths, Valtteri Bottas prevailed over teammate Lewis Hamilton to just seven thousandths, a sign of a Mercedes with a rediscovered form after the "dull" passages in Bahrain and Imola. Third, three tenths away, the other contender for the title, Max Verstappen, followed behind by an excellent "Checo" Perez and Carlos Sainz's Ferrari.

Sixth position for a superb Esteban Ocon, with Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly behind him. Sebastian Vettel completes the top ten lineup. McLaren's Australian Daniel Ricciardo was out of Q2 after appearing to be in difficulty with the MCL35M.
