Information and characteristics of the Portimao circuit
Name: Autodromo internacional do Algarve
Place: Portimão
Length: 4.633 km
Total laps: 66
For the first time, the Portuguese circuit hosts a Formula 1 race, after the need to guarantee a satisfactory number of races to contest the world championship in light of the stoppage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve was inaugurated in 2008 and in that year, precisely in November, it hosted the last race of the Superbike World Championship. Near the circuit, we find a kart track, a technology park, a five-star hotel, a sports complex and several apartments. The track has a length of 4.633 km and has 15 predominantly right-hand corners. The only DRS zone provided is the one located on the main straight.
Tire choice:
For this race weekend, Pirelli has chosen the hardest compounds in the range (C1, C2, C3), since despite being a recent track, it has characteristics that are reminiscent of old school tracks.
