F1 | Dutch GP, Albers on the Zandvoort flyover: "It will be a big challenge for Pirelli"

Speaking to the newspaper De Telegraaf, Christian Albers commented on the adoption of two superbanks on the Zandvoort track, underlining how it will be a huge challenge for Pirelli to face the difficulties linked to this solution. According to the Dutchman, in fact, the Italian manufacturer will have to carefully evaluate the types of compounds for that weekend, so as to avoid episodes similar to those that occurred in Indianapolis in 2005.

“It strikes me that many people have already expressed their opinion, especially on the two elevated roads,” Albers said. “It's very difficult to judge a curve like this in advance. The advantage today is that there is only one supplier and I am quite certain that Pirelli will choose the best compounds to face the weekend."

On the return of the Dutch Grand Prix to the calendar he added: “A significant amount of money had to be put on the table and the entrepreneurs enthusiastically accepted the project. Chapeau. They have put their attributes on the line with this investment and it's great for the Dutch fans. Zandvoort will be a sensational circuit for F1."

“The risk of seeing a parade is quite high,” he continued. “The circuit is not wide and does not have many overtaking points, but you will be able to count on the strategy and the variety of conditions that will be there. In Zandvoort you have to deal with factors such as wind and sand. It will be a great weekend."
