F1 | GP Monaco, both Alpine cars outside the top ten in free practice

Alonso and Ocon 12th and 14th, but no drama

F1 | GP Monaco, both Alpine cars outside the top ten in free practice

from Monte Carlo, Monaco

Not exactly a brilliant start to the weekend for Alpine. The French team seems to be struggling in the narrow streets of the Principality, with Alonso and Ocon unable to do better than twelfth and fourteenth position at the end of the second free practice session. The Spaniard in particular seems to have needed a little more time to get back to grips with Monte Carlo, given the trivial first impact errors during the morning, in which he first hit the wall at Antony Noghes, after which he ended up wide at Saint -Devote. His teammate is anonymous.

“As always, Thursday in Munich is very intense – Alonso said. We did a good job, with a total of 64 laps completed and increasing the feeling with the car, which is very useful, and I'm happy about that. There are many things to analyse, and in the meantime we have been able to try some updates, but between tonight and tomorrow we will see how we can judge our work to present ourselves at our best in qualifying. Traffic management will be difficult, making a clean lap is very complicated in both FP1 and FP2. Managing this aspect well could be the key to a good position on Saturday afternoon."

“The day went quite well, because we completed what we set out to do – Ocon admitted. We had to understand the car on this circuit, find the right pace and see if there were any problems. We haven't been able to understand everything, so we will dig deeper between today and tomorrow on our day off. We will work hard to find those tenths that we are currently missing. I haven't pushed the car to its limits yet. It was nice to see the fans back around the circuit and have their support again, it feels like we're back to normal."
