F1 | Italian GP, Verstappen with the new Honda power unit: he will start from the back of the grid
Among the Honda-powered riders, Gasly will also suffer penalties
The weekend of the Italian Grand Prix, the fourteenth seasonal event of the 2019 Formula One World Championship, is off to an uphill start Max Verstappen. In fact, in Monza the Dutchman from Red Bull will ride the Spec 4 of Honda and will be forced to start from the back of the grid.
The same fate as Verstappen, among the drivers powered by the Japanese company, will also befall Pierre Gasly. At Spa, however, it was Alexander Albon and Daniil Kvyat who paid penalties.
"We plan to use the Spec 4 PU with all four drivers for the first time, after Albon and Kvyat used it in Belgium – declared Honda technical director Toyoharu Tanabe -. In their first race with the Spec 4, Gasly and Verstappen will take grid penalties and start from the back, but we believe they can still run strong on Sunday. We collected useful data at Spa, which we used to make changes to the PU settings ahead of this race. We will try to maximize the potential of the Spec 4 and hope to get another positive result".
