F1 GP Italia: Monza renewed for another three years

After a back and forth that lasted months, Bernie Ecclestone and Angelo Sticchi Damiani have finally signed the agreement which confirms the Italian Grand Prix on the calendar for the next three seasons.

An important news that comes after the numerous doubts of the last few months: the lack of official news after the press conference last September, in fact, had raised some doubts among professionals, especially due to the many scandals that have emerged in the last two years.

Yesterday night, however, the parties involved managed to iron out the final details of the agreement, signing the contract in London that will save the Italian Grand Prix for the next three years. Enthusiasts will therefore be able to continue to enjoy the "Temple of Speed" and the legendary Brianza park.

“Despite a thousand difficulties and with great commitment – commented the President of the Automobile Club Italia, Angelo Sticchi Damiani – sWe have arrived at the definitive signing of the contract for Monza. On behalf of Italian athletes, I thank Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and the president of Coni Malagò who, a year ago, believed in this objective and created the conditions to achieve this very important result together."

“A special thank you - has continued - We also owe it to Governor Maroni for having decisively supported this negotiation. We have thus averted the cursed hypothesis that, after 70 years, Italy could lose one of the most prestigious, historic and fascinating car races in the world."

On the future of the Brianza racetrack he instead declared: “Now let's move forward together, with the aim of making the Monza Grand Prix, in the coming years, an even more important event, capable of fascinating and attracting more and more fans from all over the world”.
