F1 | British GP, Red Bull: Albon will have a new race engineer

After the disappointing start to the season, in which Alex Albon struggled to find the right pace both in qualifying and in the race, Red Bull decided to take action by entrusting its driver with a new track engineer. Starting from this weekend, in fact, he will be joining the Thai driver on race weekends Simon Rennie, who will leave his role at the factory to return to the track again, thus replacing Mike Lugg.

The latter had taken the place of Rennie at the beginning of 2019 who, after Daniel Ricciardo's farewell to Red Bull to try his hand at Renault, had asked to be moved to a role in the factory that did not involve little travel. Over the last year and a half, however, Lugg has not convinced first Pierre Gasly and then Alex Albon as track engineers, so much so as to push the team to recall Rennie in his old role starting from this weekend. The English engineer had previously already worked with prominent figures, first at Renault with Alonso, Kubica and Raikkonen, before moving to Red Bull and becoming the track engineer of the two Australian drivers who had the task of bringing the single-seater of Adrian Newey, i.e. Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo. Lugg, however, will return he will return to work at the team's headquarters in Milton Keynes.
