F1 GP Great Britain, Race: Hamilton wins and relaunches himself in the world championship. Bad luck Ferrari

Pole position, fastest lap and victory: perfect weekend for Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone! After the excellent pole position achieved yesterday, the Englishman from Mercedes achieved his third success of the season, relaunching himself in the world championship against Sebastian Vettel. A very important victory which allows the three-time World Champion to move just one point behind the German, who was in clear difficulty with an SF70H that was never in good shape during this weekend at Silverstone. Second place for a surprising Valtteri Bottas, author of a superlative performance: the Finn, starting from ninth place, managed to move up the rankings thanks to a diversified strategy, focusing on soft tires during the first stint of the race.

After a very defensive first part, Valtteri put on super soft tyres, catching Vettel and snatching the third step of the podium from him. A technical problem on Raikkonen's car also allowed him to grab the second step of the podium, completing a sensational Mercedes one-two.

Kimi Raikkonen was very unlucky: second for most of the race, the Finn suffered a puncture during the penultimate lap, losing position to Bottas. An important third place from a constructors' perspective, but which does not give credit to the weekend of the Ferrari standard bearer. Fourth position for Max Verstappen, followed by a super Daniel Ricciardo (stratospheric performance given that he started from the penultimate place. Ed.), Nico Hulkenberg and Sebastian Vettel. The German was slowed down by a puncture on the penultimate lap, causing him to slip from second (earned thanks to the problem with Raikkonen's car) to seventh place. A very hard blow for the world championship given that he will show up in Hungary with just one point ahead of Lewis Hamilton. Esteban Ocon, Sergio Perez and Felipe Massa complete the top.

Note a bad contact between Carlos Sainz and Daniil Kvyat during the first lap: the Russian rammed his teammate at the Becketts, ruining his race and throwing the Spaniard out. It will be interesting to understand how Ed Bull will manage the Russian's excessive exuberance in the final races of the championship. See you in two weeks for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

We remind you that it will be the last race before the summer break.
