F1 | German GP, Alfa Romeos penalised
30" each for Raikkonen and Giovinazzi due to an irregular start. The Biscione team will appeal
Both Alfa Romeo were sanctioned with a 30" penalty in the German Grand Prix, the eleventh round of the 2019 Formula One World Championship, for an incorrect start caused by the clutch being released too suddenly as a result of the Federation's assessments.
The investigation conducted by the commissioners focused on article 27.1 of the Sporting Regulations, according to which “the drivers must drive the car alone and without help".
The penalty imposed on the C38s ousts Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi from the points zone (they dropped to P12 and P13 after finishing the Hockenheim race in seventh and eighth place respectively, ed.), thus pushing the Haas of Grosjean and Magnussen forward and promoting them to the Top Ten Lewis Hamilton and Robert Kubica.
Alfa, as stated by team principal Frederic Vasseur, will appeal the decision taken by the FIA.
