F1 | German GP, Hockenheim on a possible return: "It all depends on Liberty Media"
Jorn Teske, head of the German circuit: "Liberty must decide how important their historic circuits are"
A possible return of the German Grand Prix depends strictly on the future intentions of Liberty Media, according to Jorn Teske.
According to what the Hockenheim boss declared to the motorsport-total.com website, in fact, the safeguarding of historic events depends directly on the way in which the Americans decide to tackle the problem linked to the taxation of GPs, given that the organization costs are currently prohibitive for almost all European plants.
A serious problem that Liberty Media, at least according to Teske, must address over the next few months.
“Germany is a country with a long racing tradition, a very strong federation and an important number of car clubs, but it is unlikely that the organizers will have to rely on ticket sales alone,” said Jorn Teske. “I'm not saying that subsidies are necessary, but that the risk linked to the investment must not fall only on our shoulders”.
“Formula 1 needs to decide how important their historic circuits are and how far they can go in terms of taxation”he concluded.
