F1 | Turkish GP, Schumacher: "I have never raced in Istanbul, we will analyze the data and videos from 2020 to prepare"

After a week's break, Formula 1 returns to the track in Istanbul, where the Turkish Grand Prix will be staged this weekend, having returned to the calendar last year following a prolonged absence.

Well known for its changes in elevation and, more particularly, for the famous turn eight, the Turkish track represents a great challenge for drivers, especially for those who have not had the opportunity to enjoy its peculiarities in the past. Among these there is also Mick Schumacher, a debutant in Formula 1, in his first experience in Istanbul, so he will try to rely on the data recorded last season by the American team: "Having never raced here means that we have to prepare well with the team , obviously the team raced there last year so we will have experience from them and analyze the data from last year. I can analyze the videos and prepare for the race weekend,” explained the German in the usual preview. In 2020, the team had seen a bittersweet weekend, as on the one hand Romain Grosjean had to retire following an accident with a Williams which damaged the bottom of his car, while the opportunity to score points with Kevin Magnussen had faded following difficulties during a pit stop, bringing both VF-20s to the bottom of the standings.

The season is coming to an end and, clearly, the performances of Haas have not been sufficient to allow its two drivers to compete consistently against the competition, especially bearing in mind the team's choice to give up the development of the current single-seater to content itself with on the car for the next championship: “We are not yet there, in the position to be able to move up the ranking, so we don't know what our competitiveness will be in Turkey, but we will certainly do our best and hope that it will be enough to be close to our rivals and maybe fight with them,” Schumacher added.
