F1 | Russian GP, McLaren: Lando Norris on track in the first free practice session
The young Englishman continues his preparations ahead of his debut in 2019
After taking to the track in Belgium and Italy, Lando Norris continues his program of introduction to Formula 1 before making his debut next season. The young Englishman, in fact, will drive the McLaren MCL33 in the first free practice session of the Russian Grand Prix, which will take place this weekend on the Sochi track.
Gil de Ferran, McLaren's Sporting Director, confirmed his presence in the first free practice sessions: “Lando will take to the track again during the first free practice session in Russia. It will be a busy weekend for him, as he will have to match his activities in Formula 1 with those in Formula 2. Despite this, I believe that this is a step forward for his growth."
Norris is currently fighting for the Formula 2 title, despite being 22 points behind championship leader George Russell. The Russian one will be the penultimate round of the cadet championship before the grand finale in Abu Dhabi.
