F1 | GP Denmark, positive meeting between Liberty Media and the promoters of the Copenhagen project

The chances of a return to the calendar are growing Danish Grand Prix. Yesterday, Wednesday 10 January, Chase carey, president of Liberty Media, and some FIA inspectors went to Copenhagen to deal with politicians and promoters of the project and test first-hand the terrain on which the 2020 you would like to organize a city event: “We are very excited to be able to analyze the possibility of hosting a race in Denmark” - he has declared Tortoiseshell to the newspaper BT during his visit. “We talked a lot about the importance of organizing events in emblematic places that capture the world's interest, and I think Copenhagen would. Our goal is to have long-term partnerships that are beneficial to both parties."

The Danish Minister of Industry Brian Mikkelsen he instead commented on the discussion he had with the major exponent of Liberty Media as follows: “We had a excellent meeting with Chase Carey. The Danish government is interested in attracting major sporting events, and the first one would certainly be that (a Formula 1 GP, ed.). I told Chase that the Danish government supports this project and is willing to discuss the economics, even if we won't fund the majority. I don't want to say anything about how close we are to an agreement, but Copenhagen is a special city and we have the opportunity to do something, and doing so would be a win for everyone.".

Although the meeting had a positive outcome, there are still complications to be resolved: private investors are raising the necessary funds to start the project and would be more inclined to a three-year agreement, in order to avoid long-term agreements. Liberty Media, on the other hand, would like a long-term partnership.
