There is one more Ferrari before Montreal, at the conclusion of the third session of Free tests. This time it was Sebastian Vettel the fastest, with the best time of 1:12.572, followed by 2 tenths of a second from the Red Raikkonen. Third is Hamilton, trailing by 354 thousandths, while an excellent Max Verstappen he placed the Red Bull in fourth position, ahead of Mercedes di Bottas. Hulkenberg, Massa, Ricciardo, Ocon and Sainz complete the top ten. The word now passes to the qualifications, scheduled for 19.00 pm Italian time.

News – The asphalt temperature was 29°C and the air temperature was 19°C in Montreal, when the green light came on in the pit lane and the two Ferraris were the first to leave the pits for the usual installation laps. Yellow soft tire for them and Grosjean, who joins them immediately afterwards. Ricciardo leaves the pits with the ultrasoft compound, and immediately sets a time after just a few minutes, 1:21.907. Then he drops to 1:16.784, while Palmer joined the group on the track, with the supersoft compound. Palmer with the supersoft tire comes in behind him, while the reference time drops to 1:15.472. With the ultrasoft tire Vettel took the lead in 1:14.533; followed by Ricciardo, Ocon, Hulkenberg, Perez, Palmer, Hamilton, Kimi, Bottas.

Ultrasoft tire also for Sainz, who first placed tenth and then third. Second is Raikkonen, with the ultrasoft, while Bottas mounts the red compound and slips in behind the red. Fifth time for Kvyat, with the ultrasoft tyre. Supersoft tire for Verstappen, seventh, and then third. Mid-session: Vettel, Hamilton, Verstappen, Bottas, Sainz, Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Kvyat, Alonso and Grosjean, the latter also on supersofts, like Verstappen and the two Mercedes.

Raikkonen then climbs to second position, 2 thousandths behind Vettel. In a brief pit stop, the Finn asked his team to return to the Friday set up. Meanwhile Vettel drops to 1:12.704 and then to 1:12.572. Alonso is seventh, Hulkenberg tenth. He also mixes ultrasoft for Bottas and Hamilton. The Briton from Mercedes took three laps to go in search of the flying lap, and obtained third place, half a second behind Vettel. With just over ten minutes to go, Vettel is still in the lead, followed by Kimi, Hamilton, Bottas, Verstappen, Ricciardo, Sainz, Alonso, Kvyat and Hulkenberg.

All the top 10 are on the ultrasoft compound, used only for the two Ferraris, Verstappen launches and remains fifth, but is only 54 thousandths behind Bottas in front of him. Ocon takes eighth place, followed by Hulkenberg and Alonso. The two Ferraris, however, concluded the session a few minutes early. Sixth place for Hulkenberg, while Verstappen overtakes Bottas and takes fourth place. Seventh time for Massa.

The checkered flag gives Vettel's Ferrari the third free practice session, ahead of Raikkonen and Hamilton.
