F1 | GP Canada, Bottas: “The Montreal track suits our characteristics”
“We were supposed to bring the new engine here, but we found a problem and we need to refine it,” said the Finn
Having closed the round in the Principality of Monaco, Mercedes is looking with particular predilection to the event in Montreal, where the Canadian Grand Prix will be staged over the weekend.
"Montecarlo is certainly not one of the circuits suited to our characteristics, on which we struggled while limiting the damage. Our car is designed for fast circuits like the one in Montreal. I've done some decent races here, I like the track and the city. Winning would have a huge meaning, like winning any other race”, declared Valtteri Bottas in the press conference.
The Finn analyzed the first six races played so far in the championship, where he could have achieved more important results: “I don't look at the points lost, I have to accept the ones I have. We are still in an early stage of the season, I hope that things can turn positive for me without having to pay the price of bad luck again".
On the important power unit update postponed by Mercedes: “We were supposed to bring the new engine here, but we found a problem and we need to refine it. It will be on track in two weeks. The current one is still a good engine and we have no worries about it".
On the renewal with the Stella team: “I ignore the situation during the race weekends, I'm not worried. I think I'm in a good situation. I have an excellent relationship with the team, we'll see if we continue together. We'll find out later".
