F1 | Brazilian GP, Williams in points with Felipe Massa
The Brazilian, home idol, takes 7th place. Stroll finishes the Interlagos race in 14th
Williams leaves the Brazilian Grand Prix, the nineteenth round of the 2017 Formula One World Championship, scoring points with Felipe Massa. The Brazilian, a local idol, honored on the podium at the end of the race, came seventh.
A position that allowed Massa to overtake teammate Lance Stroll in the world standings, who finished 14th and was affected by a problem with the left front tire at the end, thus occupying tenth position with a two-point advantage over the young Canadian.
"The race today was perfect from start to finish, I'm happy and excited – declared Massa – The start was surprising, where I overtook some cars. Then, after the restart, I also got the better of Alonso. I knew it would be very important to pass it. Then I managed to keep him behind, even at the end with finished tires. I finish with my head held high, that's the most important thing, in an incredible place for me. I can only thank the guys who I will miss".
"Everything went wrong this weekend – commented Stroll – CThe engine was changed after free practice 3 and I mounted the old unit which didn't allow me to go fast. AND It's been a difficult weekend and now I can't wait to race in Abu Dhabi".
