F1 GP Brazil, Qualifying: tenth pole of the season for Hamilton

Pole position for Lewis Hamilton at the end of the Brazilian GP Qualifying. The pilot of the Mercedes, who also risked two bad accidents with Raikkonen and Sirotkin during Q2, took home his tenth pole of the season and tomorrow in the race he will start from the front row, alongside Hag. Behind the two, their respective teammates and, followed by Verstappen, Ricciardo - who will however be relegated by five places - Ericsson, Leclerc, Grosjean and Gasly.

News – Q1 – Qualifying for the Brazilian GP opens with a high risk of rain. All the drivers are eager to hit the track in search of the best time before the track gets wet. The supersoft tire is the one chosen by the entire grid for Q1, where Lewis Hamilton immediately stops the clock, with a time of 1:08.464. The Briton's time, however, was quickly pulverized by that of Raikkonen, and Verstappen immediately afterwards, 1:08.205. The Dutchman's time will remain unbeaten until the end of Q1. As the rain begins to make its appearance with a few drops here and there, time passes quickly and sends Sainz, Hartley, Alonso, Stroll and Vandoorne back to the pits.

Q2 – Q2 started on the supersoft tyre, but then the two Ferraris immediately had the right intuition and returned to put on the soft tyres, with a few drops of rain continuing to fall on the visors. Verstappen returns to dictate the pace but then Bottas is the fastest, in 1:07.727, a new track record. Second is Vettel, ahead of Hamilton Verstappen Raikkonen Ricciardo Ericsson Gasly Leclerc and Perez. Mercedes and Red Bull also switch to the softs to attempt to make the cut but, unlike the two Reds, they will not succeed. But the twist in Q2 was brought about by Lewis Hamilton: the Briton was in fact the protagonist of an impediment to the detriment of Raikkonen and Sirotkin, with whom he risked two major accidents. The Race Direction sensationally decides not to intervene, citing the fact that the Russian was not on his starting lap. At the end of the session Magnussen, Perez, Ocon, Hulkenberg and Sirotkin were excluded.

Q3 – Leclerc Ericsson Bottas Vettel Hamilton Verstappen Raikkonen Ricciardo Grosjean and Gasly. These are the candidates for pole position. In the first outing, with all the drivers on red tyres, the best time was won by Hamilton, 1:07.301, followed by Vettel, Bottas, Raikkonen, Verstappen, Ricciardo, Ericsson, Leclerc, Grosjean and Gasly. After a short pit stop the drivers are all back inside for the grand finale. Pole position drops to 1:07.281, remaining in the hands of the Briton from Mercedes! in the front row with him Vettel's Ferrari and, following, Bottas, Raikkonen, Verstappen and Ricciardo.
