F1 | Brazilian GP, half day for Ferrari at Interlagos

The Friday of the Brazilian Grand Prix was a day that Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow, like the other teams, only managed to half exploit. The rain, which fell torrentially until shortly before the start of the first free practice session, affected the program. In the afternoon, however, the session was dry and saw Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc occupy the first two places in the standings although with times that are destined to drop significantly as the track conditions improve, as expected, from tomorrow .

FP1. When the green light went off in the pitlane at 11 in the morning, only a few drops fell, but the track was very wet, with real puddles in some corners. The first to take to the track were Charles and Sebastian who took advantage of the situation to try both types of wet tyres. In fact, the session began with the Wet tires and then moved on to the Intermediates. The timing, however, was not significant. At the end of the session the track began to dry out and so both Seb and Charles were able to fit dry tyres, opting for the soft compound, achieving their respective best times of 1'17”041 and 1'17”285. However, only 13 laps were completed by each.

FP2. The afternoon session was much more significant. The Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow drivers were able to work with the medium and soft tires in order to perfect the set-up in view of qualifying and the race. The first to set a time was Charles in 1'10”297 followed shortly after by Sebastian in 1'10”157. Before changing compounds the Monegasque dropped to 1'09"820 with Seb doing better in 1'09"570. The qualifying simulation then saw the two SF90s take to the track with soft tires and once again it was Vettel who achieved the best lap time. Charles had clocked 1'09"238, but shortly afterwards Sebastian lowered the limit by 21 thousandths, lapping in 1'09"217.

Long runs. In the last 35 minutes of the session, work focused on preparing for the race with two long runs performed with different compounds: Leclerc ran on medium tyres, Sebastian on soft tyres. Overall the German completed 30 laps, the Monegasque 35.

Plan. Tomorrow the track should have more rubber and it is therefore reasonable to expect a significant reduction in lap times. The third free practice session is scheduled for 12pm (16pm CET), which will precede qualifying at 15pm (19pm CET). The Brazilian Grand Prix will start on Sunday at 14.10pm (18.10pm CET).
