F1 | GP Azerbaijan, just one stop to get to the end: medium-hard or soft-hard?

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix features 51 laps, and under normal circumstances this race finishes smoothly with just one stop. Pirelli explains how there are two possible strategies: the first is more conservative and plans to start with the mediums and then move on to the hards. This option offers a wide possibility of choosing the moment of the pit stop, while the strategy that combines soft and hard is more aggressive and risky: the initial stint with the red tires provides some speed, but anticipates the need for the pit stop . On Friday the top teams tried both solutions, but the feeling is that we can start with the medium tire to extend the initial stint and still have a fair guarantee in terms of performance.

Both strategies are still valid, but the great unknown is the very high probability of the intervention of the Safety Car, which could offer a free stop at any moment of the race, changing the teams' plans. However, the two-stop strategy, which is decidedly slower, is not recommended.
