Moderate satisfaction at Racing Point for the sixth and ninth place of Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the fourth round of this 2019 Formula 1 world championship.

In fact, after a start to the season below expectations, Lawrence Stroll's team managed to make the most of the potential of the RP19, collecting important points for the constructors' classification.

Otmar Szafnauer, precisely in this sense, wanted to congratulate the team, highlighting how Baku was the first step towards a central part of the championship that is profoundly different compared to recent months.

“We can leave Baku satisfied with the work we have done,” said Racing Point team principal Otmar Szafnauer. “It's our first double points finish of the season and the performance was quite strong. Baku is traditionally a positive circuit for us and it is important to have taken advantage of this weekend."

On Perez and Stroll's weekend he added: “Sergio's qualifying was excellent and the first lap laid the foundations for his race. It was a clean Sunday, as he had great pace and brought the car home, taking an excellent sixth place. As for Lance, however, I would say that he drove incredibly well. He has been involved in some big battles and his departure has him immediately contending for the top ten. In the end he managed to score a couple of important points for him and for the team."

“I think we're starting to see the potential of the RP19, which is encouraging,” he concluded. “This was one of the most competitive weekends for us, as the car was well balanced for most of the weekend. We're talking about an excellent signal for the next races in Europe."
