F1 | GP Australia, free practice results 3: Leclerc dictates the pace, three riders less than a tenth

F1 GP Australia – Charles Leclerc ended the third and final free practice session valid for the Australian Grand Prix, the third round of the 2024 Formula 1 world championship, in command. The Monegasque from Ferrari, after the best time obtained last night (Australian afternoon), stopped the clock of 1'16"714, just twenty thousandths faster than Max Verstappen's Red Bull, who found the lap in the final moments of the session.

A mix package which, also considering Carlos Sainz with the medium tyre, will battle in the qualifying scheduled in a few hours. It should be noted that the Iberian, third, limited the gap to just 70 thousandths, a sign of a Ferrari ready to fight for the important positions on the grid. Lewis Hamilton finished in fourth place, ahead of George Russell's other Mercedes, while Fernando Alonso, Sergio Perez and Oscar Piastri found themselves in sixth, seventh and eighth position.

Finally, Lance Stroll and Lando Norris achieved the latest top ten finishes. Meet at 6.00 for the qualifying session from the Albert Park track.
