F1 | GP Australia, organizers working to host 50 thousand people

Interviewed by the Australian portal The Age, Andrew Westacott spoke about the organizational machinery relating to Australian Grand Prix, a round which on paper should open the next 2021 Formula 1 World Championship, underlining how the organizers are doing their utmost to guarantee a public turnout close to 50 thousand units.

According to the organizational manager of Albert Park, the grandstands will be remodeled according to anti-contagion needs and will be positioned in several points of the track, an aspect that should help the bodies responsible for hosting a good number of people over the weekend.

“We will produce smaller modular stands, but they will be deeper thanks to new additional rows,” said Westacott. “This will allow us to install them in new locations. Obviously there will be no large facilities for fans and the drivers will remain inside a bubble. There will be no contact between fans and teams. We can still organize a big event, but obviously it will be managed in a totally different way than in the past."

“The idea is to create several stands for a certain number of spectators, with a maximum total of 50 thousand people”, he continued. “Everything will depend on the conditions we have in March. If necessary, we are ready to talk about it with our partners. It's still too early to make predictions."
