F1 | Gasly: “Me in Red Bull in 2019? It's what I would like, but nothing has been decided yet."

Interviewed by the Spanish newspaper Trademarks, the Toro Rosso driver Pierre Gasly has commented on the numerous market rumors that label him as the number one favorite to replace Daniel Ricciardo in Red Bul in 2019.

RED BULL ATTRACTION - “Logically, my intention in the medium term is to make the jump to Red Bull because my goal is to fight for the championship. At this moment, however, I have the great opportunity to be in Toro Rosso with Honda. I'm very happy to be here, the only thing I think is to continue improving: the opportunities will come one day. It's only my first season in Formula 1 and I'm 22 years old. Of course, I would like to fight for the championship as soon as possible, but I am happy to continue with Toro Rosso if they need me, so as to continue to gain experience and grow as a driver.".

TIME TO TIME - “Am I ready to make the jump to Red Bull? It's what I would like, but I don't think much about it at the moment. For now I'm just trying to focus on myself and demonstrate all my potential, the rest will come by itself. So far I'm happy with my season in Toro Rosso, I'm happy to be here. At the moment, nothing has been decided, I think. It's a situation quite similar to that of Carlos (Sainz, sacked by Renault, ed.): we're both waiting to see what will happen. We can't predict the future.".

HONDA, EXCELLENT PROGRESS - “I'm pretty sure Red Bull and Honda will win races next year. The Honda engine is now more reliable than in recent years, it has made a big step forward. He has also improved in terms of performance, although we need to be more consistent in all circuits.".
