F1 | Force India, Szafnauer welcomes Stroll: "We will be dealing with a great driver"
The young Canadian, currently working for Williams, will join the team owned by his father Lawrence in 2019
Although the official announcement is still slow to arrive, it is no secret that Lance stroll in 2019 he will join Force India in place of Esteban Ocon, thanks to the "push" of his father Lawrance, new owner of the Indian team. Interviewed by the Brazilian broadcaster Globe, the team principal Otmar Szafnauer welcomed the 20-year-old Canadian with some nice words of encouragement: “I don't know him well yet, but from the outside I've seen him do a good job” – he began. “Last year he finished the championship three points behind teammate Felipe Massa (in Williams, ed.), who was world champion by half a lap in 2008. And when Sergey Sirotkin went to Williams this year, everyone they told me he is very fast in qualifying, but Lance is beating him, all this suggests that we will be dealing with a great driver.".
Furthermore, the support of a team as skilled with young people as Force India will only facilitate Stroll's growth path: “He is still very young, but we will help him grow” – continued Szafnauer. “If there's anything we know how to do, it's training young drivers like Nico Hulkenberg, Paul di Resta, Jules Bianchi and others. We can extract the potential from young drivers and with Lance it will be no different.".
