F1 | Force India, Perez: “The most complicated season of my career ends in Abu Dhabi”

Speaking on the official Force India website, Sergio Perez presented the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the last round of the 2018 Formula 1 World Championship.

AN INTENSE 2018 - “Abu Dhabi will be the final chapter of a very unusual year for both me and the team. It was probably the most complicated season of my career: I had to deal with so many things inside and outside the cockpit (in reference to the economic problems encountered by the team before the arrival of Lawrence Stroll, ed.). The last race of the season is an opportunity to look back at the work carried out over the last twelve months; I am proud and grateful to everyone who works in the factory, in the garage and in hospitality. This team never stops fighting; we never stop working and now we look to a very promising future. I'm really happy to be part of this family and can't wait for 2019 to begin”.

THE CHALLENGES OF YAS MARINA - “I like the Abu Dhabi race. Run at sunset and it's really beautiful when all the lights come on. It is a very hard track on the brakes and demanding in terms of traction in some slow corners. You need a very stable car in the rear to make the most of the braking areas. There are some unusual and interesting combinations of curves. There are overtaking opportunities at the end of both long straights, so you often find yourself attacking or defending, especially towards the end of the race.".

TWO OBJECTIVES TO ACHIEVE - “It's a track where we've been competitive in recent years: I'd like to end the season with a good result. I'm still aiming for seventh place in the drivers' championship (Hulkenberg is 11 points away, ed.). I know it will be tough, but anything can happen on Sunday and I want to be ready if there is a chance. The team is also aiming for sixth place in the constructors' championship (McLaren is 14 points away, ed.), so we need to pull off a perfect weekend.".
