F1 | Force India, Ocon: “Sixth place is very satisfying”

The Indian team leaves the United States with a rich haul of 12 points thanks to sixth place Esteban Ocon and to the eighth of Sergio Perez.

These are the declarations of the French pilot of the Force India:

“Sixth place is very satisfying because it wasn't an easy race having had a lot of pressure from Sainz in the final laps. I spent a lot of the race managing my pace and saving tires for the one-stop strategy. The team told me when to push and where to manage the pace, finishing sixth shows that we did everything perfect. Before the race there was a problem with the car but the team did their best to fix everything in time. The car was working very well and we reached our maximum in this race too."

This is what Sergio Perez declared:

“The race was very difficult and I'm happy that we managed to get some points. We tried an aggressive strategy with an early pit stop. I thought I had better pace than Esteban because he was saving his tires but the traffic damaged my tires and I fell behind. It's hard to say how things would have gone if I had passed. When Sainz was behind me I couldn't do anything because his tires were fresher than mine. In the end, it was hard to defend my position from Kvyat and Massa, I struggled to keep Massa back too. The tires were at their limit but I'm happy to have finished eighth, it's a good result for the team".
