F1 | Force India, Mallya: “The name change has not yet been decided”

Force India it will almost certainly change its name in 2018, but it is not yet known what the final choice will be. The owner of the team, the billionaire, admits it Vijay Mallya. In fact, there are still numerous options on the table to decide the future of the team and its new name.

All this while the most popular one, “force one”, was recorded: “The name change – Mallya told Planet F1 – is still ongoing, because it is in discussion with some sponsors who have expressed some reservations about the name Force India and how it is geographically and territorially too specific” .

“During one of our discussions Force One was suggested, everyone liked it and we checked if it was available. So we decided to record it and all the speculation began from there, but we haven't decided yet."

The alternatives on the table are in fact numerous and the team seems to want to take all the time necessary to make a final decision: “Some people have found new suggestions, such as Force Racing. These suggestions will keep coming and then we will decide. There is no specific timeline. I can't even know if a decision will be made for next year, given that we don't have enough pressure to make an early choice."

“When we arrive at a name with all our partners then we will go ahead and deliver our choice” – concluded Mallya.
